A shooting early Saturday in Lauderhill left one man hospitalized, authorities said. Police are asking the community to help find those responsible.

Around 4:50 a.m., Lauderhill police responded to the 3300 block of Northwest 18th Place after receiving reports of a shooting, authorities said.

Officers found a man inside his car with gunshot wounds. Fire-rescue took him to Broward Health Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries; he is in stable condition, police said.

Neighbor Johnny Brinson told Miami Herald News Partner CBS News Miami that the injured man was his nephew, and that while he did not see the shooting, he heard it.

“All of a sudden, it sounds like someone was out there beating and tapping on a window,” he told CBS. “And I said, ‘Who’s so-and-so out there, beating on that window like that?’ And it was four gunshots.”

Police said the motive and identities of possible suspects are currently unknown. They are asking anyone with information to call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
