A man was rushed to a hospital after being bitten by a shark at a Broward beach Tuesday afternoon, fire rescue says.

Around 2:50 p.m., 911 calls came in of the man, in his 40s, suffering from a serious injury after the bite. Hollywood Fire Rescue and BSO’s Hallandale Beach station rushed to 4100 block of Ocean Drive to treat him. The shark bit his upper arm.

He was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment, Hollywood Fire Rescue said. It is unclear what caused the shark to attack.

This is a developing story.
