First he told detectives that someone came into his Dania Beach apartment, shot his girlfriend and then took off, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Clifford Bernard Stewart III then changed his story about how his 19-year-old girlfriend, Tynecia Denise Williams, was shot and killed Tuesday inside the apartment they shared at 742 SW Fourth Terr., according to BSO.

One of the tales, detectives said: He put one bullet into a revolver and he and Williams then played Russian roulette. Stewart, 20, said he tried to stop her when the shot was fired.

After being questioned about the inconsistencies in his story, Stewart told investigators another one: He was inside the apartment and “accidentally shot her in the abdomen,” BSO said in a news release.

“He admitted the gun was fully loaded and that he buried it in a wooded area behind their apartment building,” BSO Spokeswoman Dani Moschella wrote in the release.

Stewart now faces one charge of second-degree murder and is being held in jail with no bond.
