Professor accused of traveling to have sex with boy in Broward
A University of Michigan professor is accused of traveling to South Florida to have sex with what he thought was a 14-year old boy.
Turns out the boy’s father, who arranged the meeting on a website in which men discuss their fetishes and sexual activities with young boys, was an undercover officer with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
James Cavalcoli, 51, was taken into custody Friday when he showed up a resort in Weston to meet teen and his father.
Cavalcoli is facing a federal charge of traveling to have illicit sex with a minor. He’s scheduled to have a bond hearing Friday in federal court in Fort Lauderdale.
