Police: Teen charged with robbing 4-year-old boy of iPad

Investigators arrested a Lauderhill teenager Monday accused of stealing an iPad from a 4-year-old child in a Tamarac salon on the evening of July 24.

Aaron Sapp, 16, snatched the device from Alejandro Ariza, who was watching cartoons around 7 p.m. at Grace Salon, 5449 N. State Road 7, where his mother worked, Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Dani Moschella told the Sun Sentinel.

When the Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video of the robbery a few days later, Aaron was identified by many callers to Broward Crime Stoppers, police said.

BSO robbery detectives discovered Aaron was on probation and located him through his probation officer. When detectives went to his home on Monday, Aaron tried to run but was taken into custody, police said. He faces one count of violation of probation and one count of strong-arm robbery.
