Davie police are searching for suspected street-racing drivers who crashed into two motorcycles — killing two people and injuring two others — before leaving the scene over the weekend, the department said Monday.

Witnesses called police around midnight Sunday to report three to four cars of unknown makes and models racing in the northbound lanes near 3400 South State Road 7, just south of I-595, said Davie police spokesman Officer Peter Patton.

The witnesses say the cars struck two motorcycles with two people on each bike, Patton said.

Two people died at the scene and the two others were taken to the hospital with what police said were “non-life-threatening injuries.”

As of Monday night, police have not named the victims pending notification of their next of kin. Additionally, police were still looking for the drivers of the racing cars.

The department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call Davie police at 954-693-8200 or CrimeStoppers at 954-493-8477.
