Deputies shoot dead woman who had ‘multiple large knives’ in Deerfield Beach, BSO says
Deputies shot and killed a woman who was armed with several large knives in Deerfield Beach Monday night, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said
Around 7 p.m., deputies went to the area of South Federal Highway and Southeast 10th Street after receiving reports of “a suspicious person armed with multiple large knives, said BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman.
“At some point, shots were fired,” Grossman said.
The sheriff’s office did not release details of what prompted the deputies to fire their weapons and did not say how many deputies were involved.
BSO Fire Rescue paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, said Grossman.
As with all police-involved shootings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating this case. Grossman said the sheriff’s office’s Internal Affairs Unit will also conduct an internal administrative investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
