Fort Lauderdale police arrested a man on an attempted murder charge after detectives say he shot another inside the Society Las Olas apartment building early Sunday morning.

When officers arrived at the building, located at the 300 block of Southwest 1st Avenue shortly before 5 a.m., they found a man shot, said police spokeswoman Casey Liening. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue took him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he’s being treated for life-threatening injuries, Liening said.

Police have not named the victim.

After an initial investigation, detectives arrested 40-year-old Willis A. Rellanos, who remained on scene after the shooting, on attempted murder. As of Monday, he was being held without bond in Broward County jail, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office records.
