Man fired gun 8 times, killing another who he suspected was talking to his girlfriend: BSO
A Boca Raton man is in jail on charges of gunning down a man in Pompano Beach because he thought the man was talking to his girlfriend, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deshawn Allen, 29, was booked into Broward County’s Main Jail on a first degree murder charge after a shooting early Monday morning.
At around 4:45 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at 701 NW 9th Ave, where they discovered 52-year-old Chaddric Loray dead in a grassy area beside the roadway, with eight bullet casings scattered nearby.
Surveillance footage later captured a distinctive work truck — identified by its unique paint job — traveling south on Northwest Ninth Avenue, according to Allen’s arrest paperwork. The driver briefly exited before driving away.
Investigators learned that earlier, at an apartment complex in Pompano Beach where Allen resided with his girlfriend, a heated dispute had erupted. Allen allegedly pulled out a handgun during the confrontation sparked by his suspicions that Loray was talking to his girlfriend.
A witness told investigators that while dropping someone off at 701 NW 9th Ave — she saw Allen’s truck pull up behind her and then heard eight gunshots.
Investigators learned that the truck Allen was driving belonged to Atkins Paving Company. The company owner confirmed that Allen was his employee and had access to the work truck.
Allen was arrested at Atkin’s Paving parking lot at 2441 NW 15th Court. He was granted no bond and remains jailed as of Wednesday afternoon.
