Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a Deerfield Beach house fire early Sunday morning. The blaze led to a man’s death, another person hospitalized with serious injuries and seven others displaced.

Around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, the agency responded about a fire at 951 Northeast 50th Court. Firefighters dealt with dense smoke upon arrival at the single-family home and vigorously searched for any people in the home.

An adult man was located in a bedroom and died at the scene. Almost 40 firefighters put the fire out in 20 minutes, the fire rescue said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the other residents of the home with finding shelter and other essential needs.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
