Police officer fatally shoots woman in Lauderhill. The officer said she had a knife
A police officer fatally shot a woman in Lauderhill on Friday afternoon, according to the city’s police department.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at 4045 NW 16th St., Lauderhill police said.
According to Lt. Antonio Gonzalez, a department spokesman, police received a call for service for the location, but the call disconnected before more information was relayed.
The first officer on the scene reported over his radio that a woman was armed with a knife. Shortly after, the officer reported on the radio, “Shots fired,” Gonzalez said.
The woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died, police said.
The woman has not been named, and the shooting is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Gonzalez said.
