Six-year-old boy injured following a ‘firework explosion’ in Broward, news reports say

A six-year-old boy was injured this morning in Deerfield Beach following an “firework explosion”, according to Miami Herald news partner CBSNews Miami.

The TV station reported that the unidentified boy lost his hand.

Around 10:15 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 600 block of Northwest First Terrace, where they found the boy with an injury to his hand.

The boy was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said.

BSO Special Victims Unit detectives are investigating. No other injuries were reported.
