Two killed in Fort Lauderdale shooting identified. Several others hurt — including toddler
Investigators on Tuesday identified a man and woman killed in an apparent Fort Lauderdale drive-by shooting that left several injured — including a two-year-old, police said, as they continue their search for a suspect or suspects.
Around 7:55 p.m., the gunfire rang out near the 700 block of Northwest 10th Terrace, said Casey Liening, a Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman.
Responding officers arrived to find four adults and a two-year-old child suffering from gunshot wounds, Liening added. Police originally reported five adults were injured.
Tiarra Holliday, 28, of Plantation, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Liening. Sheldon Lawrence, 45, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The child and two adults were sent to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
It’s not clear what preceded the gunfire, but Liening noted officers’ initial investigation indicates the isolated incident may have been a drive-by shooting.
Detectives are still pursuing leads and urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We know there were witnesses to this incident,” Liening said. “You can call our Homicide TipLine at 954-828-6677.”
