A woman and her son were found dead inside a Broward home, police say. The father of the child was found unconscious — but alive.

The possible attempted murder-suicide was uncovered Tuesday afternoon when police responded to 1083 NW 97th Ave. in Plantation. Police say Sara Ashley Gama, 38, and Ethan Aponte, 2, were already dead.

40-year-old Jean Carlos Aponte, the father of the toddler, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition due to a possible drug overdose, according to police.

“Due to this case being an active possible homicide investigation in its preliminary stages, no further information is available at this time,” police spokesperson Det. Robert Rettig said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Plantation police at 954-797-2100 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
