A body was found close to a burning car at a Broward gas station Thursday morning while firefighters doused the flames after it became engulfed, authorities said.

Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue units rushed to a RaceTrac gas station, 3031 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., in Pembroke Park around 4 a.m. after receiving a call about a car on fire next to a gas pump, the agency said in a news release.

Firefighters found a pick-up truck fully engulfed in flames. While extinguishing the fire, they found the body close to the car.

Firefighters were not able to determine the gender of the person found dead “due to the body’s condition,” Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane told the Miami Herald in an email.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

“At this time, there is no foul play suspected pending an autopsy by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office,” Kane said.
