Police: Man with gunshot wound driven to Miramar Walmart
A man with at least one gunshot wound was driven to a Walmart on University Drive in Miramar Monday, leaving police to piece together where and why the man had been shot.
According to Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues, a friend brought the wounded man to the store at 1800 S. University Dr. at about 3:30 p.m. and parked in the fire lane.
Someone alerted the store and police were called.
Yellow crimescene tape went up, blocking a potion of the front of the busy store, as police tried to determine what had happened. Rues said detectives determined that man had not been shot at Walmart.
“We are still trying to pinpoint the exact location, but we believe it happened a nearby residential community,” she said.
Rues said the victim, who was not being cooperative, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. His condition was unknown Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miramar police at 954-602-4000 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
