Do you vote in Broward County? Speak more than one language? Looking for a short-term job?
The Broward Supervisor of Elections is hiring. The office is looking for bilingual (English and Spanish or Creole) people to work on three different election days next year.
The salaries range from $175 to $350 for the day and others pay $12 to $18 per hour.

Job requirements
To become an Election Day worker in Broward, you must:
▪ Be a registered voter in Broward (for most positions)
▪ Fill out an Election Day Workers application.
▪ Attend a minimum of four hours of training.
▪ Be 16 or older.
▪ Have reliable transportation.
▪ Arrive at 5:30 on election morning and work until polls close at 7 p.m.
Poll worker jobs
The Broward supervisor of elections is hiring for 11 positions:
▪ Clerk: $350 for the day
The clerk, a supervisory position, manages overall tasks, activities and the poll workers in the polling place. The clerk also visits the assigned precinct the day before the election to setup the precinct with the Voting System Technician and verifies all supplies have been delivered. On Election Night, the clerk returns Election Day materials to an assigned regional site.
▪ Assistant clerk: $230 for the day
The assistant clerk assists the clerk and shares their duties as needed and may substitute for the clerk if they are unable to serve. The assistant clerk also assists voters who need a provisional ballot.
▪ EPB operator: $220 for the day
The EPB operator confirms voter eligibility in the Electronic Poll Book at the check-in table and issues voting passes to eligible voters.
▪ Ballot inspector: $205 for the day
The ballot inspector collects voting pass from each voter and issues appropriate ballot according to the ballot style on the voting pass. The inspector also issues voter a replacement ballot when errors are made by the voters.
▪ Voting system technician: $325 to $340 for the day
The VST sets up the precinct the day before the election with the clerk; provides technical support to the voters on the Optical Scanner in the precinct or with the ExpressVote (ADA unit) on Election Day; and returns equipment and materials to the voting equipment center on Election Night.
▪ Backup voting system technician: $275 for the day
The backup VST sets up the precinct the day before the election with the clerk; provides technical support to the voters on the Optical Scanner in the precinct or with the ExpressVote (ADA unit) on Election Day.
▪ Early voting poll worker: $12 to $18 per hour
The early voting poll workers perform overall tasks of an early voting site for two weeks prior to the election. They also set up and break down sites, verify voter’s eligibility using the EViD (Electronic Voter IDentification Pollbook) and issues ballots to the voters.
▪ Poll deputy: $200 for the day
The poll deputy maintains order outside the polling place. The deputy also posts signs and notices, monitors the “No Solicitation Zone” and stands at end of line at 7 p.m. to signify end of the voting day.
▪ Truck drivers and helpers: $175-$200 for the day
Drivers and helpers for election night equipment and supplies pickup.
▪ Call center operator: $205
The call center operator is responsible for answering calls from polling places and the public on Election Day, responding to inquiries and resolving issues. People applying for this position don’t have to be registered to vote in Broward.
▪ Warehouse staff: $18 per hour
These workers assist with the Election Day preparation process. They also assist with packing, staging, shipping and/or receiving equipment and supplies.
The total payment next to each position includes payment for training. Training is not paid if you do not work on Election Day. Workers will be paid via the money transfer application Zelle.
Election days
Applicants must be available to work during these dates:
▪ Presidential Primary Election: March 19, 2024.
▪ Primary Election: Aug. 20, 2024.
▪ General Election: Nov. 5, 2024.
