Woman rescued after car sinks in Lauderhill lake, firefighters say
A rescue diver saved a woman from her car that sank in a Lauderhill residential lake Friday morning, according to the city’s fire-rescue department.
The woman, who has not been named, lost control of her car before it went in the the lake off Inverrary Drive, said Deputy Chief Jeff Levy, spokesman for Lauderhill Fire-Rescue.
Firefighters believed she suffered a medical emergency before losing control of the vehicle, Levy said.
Bystanders initially jumped into the water to try to rescue her before rescue crews arrived, Levy said. A rescue diver got to the car to free her, he said.
Paramedics took the woman to Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes where she was in stable condition as of early Friday afternoon, Levy said.
