The Fort Lauderale-Hollywood International Airport returned to normal business around 12:45 p.m. Sunday after the Terminal 1 check-in area was evacuated for just over an hour.

While the airport’s social media announcement at 11:35 a.m. said only there was an “ongoing security-related law enforcement investigation,” Broward Sheriff’s Office told NBC 6 an unattended bag caused the evacuation so the bomb squad could check out the luggage.

The upper level roadway at the airport also was closed for the investigation.

Terminal 1’s airlines include United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Allegiant Air, Alaska Airlines, Copa Airlines and Bahamasair. Passengers with flights leaving before 3 p.m. should check with their airlines for the flights’ statuses.
