Construction worker found dead at Port Everglades. Investigation is underway, BSO says

A worker fell into cement machinery and was later found dead at Port Everglades, prompting an investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The tragedy happened at the port at 2600 Eisenhower Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Deputies found the dead man inside machinery, according to BSO. The sheriff’s office received a call around 11:20 a.m. Friday about a worker who fell at a cement terminal.

BSO Homicide Unit detectives were notified and are investigating the death.

Operations at Port Everglades aren’t affected, according to Joy Oglesby, the port’s public information officer.
