Park Lakes Elementary in Lauderdale Lakes went on lockdown for just over an hour Tuesday morning after a gun was found in a student’s backpack, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

BSO said the student’s father, 34-year-old Rasheed Anderson, claimed he “accidentally placed the weapon in the wrong bag.”

Despite the accident claims, Anderson was arrested on two counts of possessions of a firearm for the guns police found in his car on school property; one count of unsafe storage of a firearm, for the gun in the backpack; and one count of disruption of a school function.

The school went on lockdown around 9:20 and was off lockdown by 10:35 a.m.
