Miramar Fire Rescue crew plucks four baby ducks from storm drain
It took only a couple of minutes for Miramar Fire Rescue to help reunite a mother duck with her four babies — who somehow fell through the cracks of a storm drain Tuesday.
The rescue came after a resident spotted the stuck ducks in the 1300 block of Southwest 28th Street in Miramar.
Miramar Fire Rescue Lt. Jose Gregorisch said firefighters removed the grate and used a fishing net to get the ducks to dry land. Gregorisch shared the rescue live through Periscope.
“They were all huddled together,” Gregorisch said.
It was not clear how long the ducks had been down there. Gregorisch said duck rescues are not uncommon in South Florida.
Once the ducks were out of the drain they were brought to their waiting mother.
“It was a happy reunion,” Gregorisch said.
