The city of Lauderhill went without running water for a few hours on Thursday after a repair problem shut down service, officials said.

Around 11:50 a.m., the city tweeted that it was aware that residents and businesses didn’t have water or had very low water pressure.

“Attention City of Lauderhill Residents and Businesses Owners, the City of Lauderhill is aware residents and businesses are experiencing low to no water pressure,” the city read. “The staff is working on restoring full service expeditiously.”

Public schools in the city were also affected by the water outage, said John Sullivan, chief communications officer for Broward County Public Schools.

During a scheduled repair, an unexpected water valve failure caused a citywide interruption of water service, the city said.

By 2:50 p.m., the city announced that water was flowing again and that pressure was at normal levels.

But residents were advised to boil their water before using it.

This is a developing story.
