An emergency landing on a Broward highway temporarily delayed traffic Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 2 p.m., Pembroke Pines police tweeted that a plane with engine trouble landed in the southbound lanes of U.S. 27, just south of Pembroke Road.

A pilot aboard the Piper PA-28-161, a fixed-wing single-engine plane, was not hurt, police said. The owner of the plane is listed as Florida General Aviation in Pembroke Pines, records show.

Drivers should expect traffic delays Tuesday afternoon as the plane is moved from the highway.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
