Two on a motorcycle are dead after crash on I-95 that has 595 entrance ramp closed
Two people who were on a motorcycle are dead after an early morning crash Saturday on an entrance ramp along a major interchange in Fort Lauderdale.
According to Lt. Indiana Miranda with the Florida Highway Patrol, a Sunrise man, 36, and a Pembroke Pines woman, 46, were on a red 2017 Suzuki motorcycle heading south in a center lane on the ramp to Interstate 595 from Interstate 95 at around 3:20 a.m.
The man was driving the bike.
For reasons still under investigation, their motorcycle hit the back of a 2016 gray Nissan Sentra sedan that was carrying two passengers and in the same center lane.
Both people were thrown from the motorcycle, with its driver landing in the emergency lane and his passenger in the outside lane. Their bike landed between the inside and center lane of the ramp.
After the crash, the Sentra veered to the right and straddled the outside and emergency lane.
The motorcycle passengers died on the road, Miranda’s report said.
The men in the car, a 30-year-old and his passenger, 36, both of Davie, were not hurt.
As of 10 a.m. I-95 south was open but the entrance to I-595 remained closed, Miranda said.
The crash is still under investigation.
