As the Confederate battle flag came down for a final time at South Carolina’s Statehouse on Friday morning, Lauderhill business owner Preston Henn hoisted the old Georgia state flag — embossed with the Confederate symbol — over the Swap Shop.
Henn said he tried to order the Confederate battle flag from Amazon.com about two weeks ago, but when the company would not ship it, he settled for the flag flown for 45 years until 2001 in his hometown of Canton, Ga.
“I put it up as a joke to see if anyone would notice,” he said. “It wasn’t up 15 minutes before everyone started calling.”
