A 5-year-old was dropped off at a Broward school, and nobody knew who he was, cops say

An all-day mystery began around 9:04 a.m. Monday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said, when a 5-year-old boy was dropped off at Lauderdale Lakes’ Park Lakes Elementary School — where he wasn’t registered.

Deputies speaking with the child, BSO said, were “unable to ascertain his first or last name or the names of his parent(s)/guardian.”

His parents eventually were found around 2 p.m., the agency said.

But how the child — fully clothed, clean, with a backpack and water bottle in the photo that BSO released via Twitter — wound up at the school remains under investigation.

Broward Sheriff’s Office said this boy was left at Park Lakes Elementary School in Lauderdale Lakes, but doesn’t go to that school.
