Pedestrian killed in crash involving Brightline train, Broward deputies say

A person was killed Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a Brightline train in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

It happened at about 4:20 p.m. in the area of Copans Road and Dixie Highway.

BSO said reports came into Broward Regional Communications that there had been a “train versus pedestrian crash.”

The pedestrian, who was not identified, died at the tracks.

Video from news helicopters show a stopped train and a yellow tarp on the ground nearby.

The “circumstances of the crash,” were being investigated, BSO said.

No other information was immediately available.
