Brightline train slams into pickup, hospitalizing one person, reports say

A Brightline train slammed into a pickup truck Friday afternoon, sending a person to the hospital, authorities say.

Around 5:40 p.m., Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue was called to the Brightline train hitting a car in the area of Southwest Third Street and South Dixie Highway near Hallandale Beach, Battalion Chief Michael Kane said.

The person was taken to Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert, he said. The identity of the man is not yet known.
