More than 200 cantors from across the United States will perform in a concert Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale as part of the American Conference of Cantors and their affiliate, the Guild of Temple Musicians’ annual convention.
The public concert, which will include a mix of modern, popular music, Broadway, show tunes and camp songs, will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El, 8200 Peters Rd. in Plantation. Tickets cost $25.
“We look forward to showcasing our talents at the public concert,” said Lisa Segal, the cantor at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach and a co-chairwoman of the convention.
The concert is part of the national convention, themed Riding the Waves into the Future.

The American Conference of Cantors is a nonprofit organization based in Illinois that encourages professional growth and development of cantors in the Jewish Reform
Every year the group holds a conference — this is the first time it’s being held in South Florida — meant to give cantors a chance to share ideas.
“It is the one time of the year we can come together for professional development and introduce new music, study and learn together,” said Rachel Roth, the managing director of the American Conference of Cantors.
