Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for Steve Jean Baptiste, who they say is wanted for first-degree murder.

At 11:27 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a shooting near the 300 block of West Sample Road in Pompano Beach. Haron Hunter, 28, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told deputies Hunter and Baptiste, 30, got into a fight, and then Baptiste pulled a gun on Hunter and shot him. Baptiste drove away in a white 2006 Mercedes-Benz AMG model, deputies said.

Baptiste is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding Baptiste is asked to call BSO Homicide Det. John Curcio at 954-321-4212. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
