Fort Lauderdale police officer, resident injured in two-car crash, police say

On his way to responding to a 911 call, a Fort Lauderdale officer was injured in a two-car crash along with a resident on Tuesday.

Sometime Tuesday afternoon, the officer and civilian, who were not identified, crashed into each other when the officer was driving to a call, Fort Lauderdale police said. The pair collided at the intersection of State Road 84 and Federal Highway.

Both were taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons, police said.

Police did not say how the accident was caused as it is still being investigated.

WSVN Channel 7 News reported the both the resident and officer had to be extricated from their vehicles.
