Two teens dead after single-car crash in Broward County, cops say

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Tamarac on Saturday night that left two teens dead and three injured.

Crystal McLeod, 17, was driving south on State Road 7 with four passengers, according to the sheriff’s office. Her vehicle hit a large concrete pole and was split in two. Deputies reported she was speeding.

All five passengers were taken to Broward Health Medical Center.

McLeod, who was from Tamarac, was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m. Saturday. Passenger Ziair Simpson, 14, of North Lauderdale, was pronounced dead at 12:59 a.m. Sunday.

The three other passengers — two 14-year-old males and a 16-year-old female from Lauderdale Lakes — are in serious condition.

Parents of the teenagers have been notified, according to the sheriff’s office.
