A helicopter moving some pipe and other equipment crashed at Tradewinds Park

A helicopter crashed into trees at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

About 80 to 90 minutes after the crash, Coconut Creek Fire Marshal Jeffery Gary said, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Air Rescue unit was able to lift the pilot out and get him to Broward Health North Medical Center. He was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Miami-Dade, BSO Fire Rescue and BSO Air Rescue assisted Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue.

Gary said the helicopter was moving pipe and equipment for a Broward County drainage project at the park, 3600 W. Sample Rd., when it crashed into a wooded area.
