A boat got into the mangroves near Dania Beach. The Coast Guard had to medevac a woman

The Coast Guard medevaced a 26-year-old woman after a boat struck mangroves near Whiskey Creek part of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Friday night’s rescue near Dania Beach occurred after a report of a 17-foot vessel allided with some mangroves. Five people were on the boat. A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65-Dolphin helicopter lowered a rescue swimmer, Petty Officer First Class Stephen Nicoll, who judged the woman needed a hospital.

The woman was lifted out and taken to Palmetto General Hospital.
