A boil water notice just went into effect in a place where pipes are a problem

Valve work on water mains have part of Fort Lauderdale under the precautionary boil water notice that went into effect at 5 a.m. Thursday.

The affected area is east of Interstate 95 and covers the properties on the south side of Northwest Sixth Street between 21st and 17th avenues; has an eastern boundary that runs from Northwest Sixth Street to Northwest Seventh Place along the 18th Avenue edge of Lincoln Park; the properties on the west side of Northwest 20th Avenue from Seventh to Eighth streets; and the south side of Northwest Eighth Street to 19th Avenue.

Water used for drinking, cooking, ice, washing dishes or teeth should be brought to a rolling boil for a minute before being used. The notice will be in effect until area water passes two days of consecutive tests.

The city said it made emergency repairs on the valve of a two-inch water main and will install a new valve on a water main near 700 NW 19th Ave. Area buildings might have low or no water pressure.
