He was robbing two women in a Broward apartment complex. Then, one of them screamed

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for a man who they say tried robbing two women.

The incident happened in the evening of March 28 at Cypress Chase South apartments, 2649 NW 48th Ter. in Lauderdale Lakes. BSO released the information on Monday.

Deputies say the two senior citizens had just returned to the complex when a robber, armed with a handgun, approached and demanded their purses. He quickly left when one of the women screamed.

The women described the robber as a tall, lean black male in his 20s, according to BSO. He wore a black shirt, red shorts and a dark blue bucket hat at the time of the attempted robbery.

Security footage shows him exiting on the rear passenger side of a white Ford Fusion before the confrontation.

Anyone with information is asked to call BSO robbery detective Marcos Ruiz-Toledo at 954-321-5018. Anonymous tippers should contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or via email at browardcrimestoppers.org.
