Woman found at home with fatal gunshot wound to her head. BSO looking for answers.

Homicide detectives are investigating a Fort Lauderdale shooting that left a woman dead and injured her dog.

Misty Sharp, 40, was fatally shot April 2 at her home in Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to 2651 NW Eighth Place just after 4 p.m. There, they discovered a woman, later identified as Sharp, who had been shot in the head.

Sharp was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors later pronounced her dead.

While executing a search warrant at Sharp’s home, deputies later discovered her dog who had also suffered a gunshot wound. The canine’s injuries were non-life threatening, according to BSO.

Details surrounding the fatal shooting are unknown. The investigation remains ongoing.
