1 dead, another seriously injured in Broward motorcycle crash, police say

A 22-year-old motorcyclist has died after police say he crashed into another bike in Pembroke Pines early Tuesday.

The accident happened o\in the eastbound lanes of Sheridan Street at 172nd Avenue shortly before 3 a.m., according to police.

Police say the 22-year-old Pembroke Pines resident was traveling east on his 2017 Yamaha motorcycle when he collided with another motorcyclist on the road. The force of the crash sent both drivers flying off their bikes.

The investigation shut down a stretch of the busy Southwest Broward road for nearly five hours. Helicopter video taken by Total Traffic Miami earlier in the day showed police searching the area for evidence, the 22-year-old’s motorcycle sprawled along the road. The other driver’s 2011 Yamaha motorcycle on the floor nearby.

Police say the 22-year-old driver died on the road from his injuries. The other motorcyclist, a 19-year-old from Tamarac, was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are working to determine if the 19-year-old driver will face charges for the fatal accident.

Police have not disclosed the name of either driver.
