Another water main is broken in Fort Lauderdale. Here’s where there’s a boil water notice

A precautionary boil water notice has been issued to three properties near a Fort Lauderdale water main break.

The break happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday near Southeast 10th Avenue near 18th Street.

Aging pipes weren’t the issue, according to the city. A contractor hit a pipe while testing soil. Crews have since responded and made the necessary repairs.

As of Monday evening, the city had issued a precautionary boil water notice to three properties that each touch Southeast 19th Street and/or 10th Avenue.

The notice will remain until the water passes quality tests for two consecutive days.

Any water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled for about one minute, according to the city.

The city will be posting updates on its website at www.fortlauderdale.gov as well as its Twitter and Facebook pages. Residents can also call the City’s 24-hour Neighbor Call Center at 954-828-8000.
