Two Sunday morning incidents constipated traffic in two parts of northbound Interstate 95 in Broward County.

A 5:45 a.m. shooting involving the occupants of three cars, Florida Highway Patrol said, had the right two lanes closed just south of Hollywood Boulevard.

FHP said the passenger in a silver GMC pickup truck told police someone in a white Dodge Ram pickup shot at them sevarel times, hitting the driver. The two trucks bumped sides. The Dodge continued north while the GMC bumped sides with a silver Honda.

The GMC driver, though hit more than once, is in stable condition at Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital.

A single-car crash south of Atlantic Boulevard killed 37-year-old Willie Kemp of Pompano Beach and had all lanes closed until around 11:30 a.m.

FHP said said early investigation indicated Kemp swerved hard to the right shoulder; overcorrected, which threw his Ford across the highway; and slammed into the median. He was thrown from the car despite wearing a seat belt and landed on the freeway’s left shoulder.

Kemp was declared dead on the scene.
