A man was run over at a major melon importer’s Port Everglades facility, BSO says
A man died at the Port Everglades facility of a melon importing giant Monday, prompting an investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and OSHA.
That’s according to BSO, which said they were called to Sol Shipping at 3300 SE 19th Ave. around 2 p.m. Monday and found a man lying on the ground. He died at the port and BSO said the early stages of the investigation say he was “struck and run over by a large piece of equipment.”
The victim’s name hasn’t been released yet.
Sol Shipping’s website declares the company, a part of Fyffes North America, is “the No. 1 offshore melon distributor in North America and the largest grower and importer of winter melons.”
