‘You will always be my son.’ Fatal shooting in Deerfield Beach rocks community

Keirson Wilson-Forte was scheduled to start his new job Jan. 20. Less than two weeks before he could, the 29-year-old was fatally shot.

Detectives are trying to find the shooter who not only killed Wilson-Forte but also wounded a 45-year-old woman in the same shooting in a Deerfield Beach neighborhood this week.

Deputies responded to 175 SW Third St. just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. There, they discovered Wilson-Forte lying in the street with several gunshot wounds, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, later identified as Tara Nicole Bostick, a mother, was found near Pineview Cemetery a few blocks from the scene. BSO later learned that she had driven herself there.

Paramedics took the two people to Broward Health North where medical personnel eventually pronounced Wilson-Forte dead.

Bostick’s injuries were not life-threatening, BSO said.

His death rocked the Deerfield Beach community with numerous people taking to Facebook to honor a man they say had a big heart and always kept them smiling.

“I’m going miss you Keirson Wilson,” wrote his cousin Angelia Deriso. “Your beautiful soul inside and out showed our family that no matter what family is first.”

“You will always be my son,” wrote his mother Marcia Scott. “I love you forever I can’t believe someone took your life.”

“He was so respectful and mannerly,” wrote former coworker Michelle Crump. “I remember he was such a giving, helpful person.”

A candlelight vigil, live-streamed on Facebook, was held Friday evening in his honor.
