Broward County

Man who was kidnapped and beaten has been found, cops say. The suspects have been charged.

UPDATE: This story has been updated to reflect that the missing man, Kevin Lee, has been found.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that the man who was beaten, chained and kidnapped from a Broward Shell gas station Tuesday has been found.

On Wednesday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Kevin Lee, 43, who is homeless, had not been seen since about noon Tuesday at the Shell gas station at 2701 W. Sunrise Blvd. near Fort Lauderdale.

Late Tuesday night, the department shared a picture of Lee in hopes of identifying him. The department also said detectives had “identified the possible culprits in the case.”

By Wednesday, two men, Kenneth Douglas, 36, and Terrail Jenkins, 38, had been arrested and charged with false imprisonment, BSO said. They remained in jail Thursday.

According to BSO, two suspects were seen restraining the victim and then forcing him into a car.

One of the suspects was found in the car shortly after the kidnapping, but the victim was not in the car. The other suspect was located a short time later, BSO said.

BSO said Thursday that Lee was found at a Kwik Stop in Lauderdale Lakes and taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries “that do not appear to be life-threatening.”
