With temperatures expected to dip overnight, Broward declares cold weather emergency
With temperatures expected to take a deep dive Monday night into Tuesday morning, Broward County has issued a one-day Cold Weather Emergency and opened cold-night shelters.
The weather in Broward could feel like it’s in the upper 30s or low 40s with the windchill, the National Weather Service has said.
The emergency status goes into effect beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The county is urging people who are homeless to either go to a pickup location to be taken to a shelter or report directly to a shelter by 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Here’s a list of shelters, pick-up spots
▪ Pompano Beach: Pickup at Northeast Transit Center, corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Dixie Highway.
▪ Fort Lauderdale: Shelter and pickup at Salvation Army, 1445 W. Broward Blvd.
▪ Hollywood: Shelter at Broward Outreach Center, 2056 Scott St.
