State authorities are investigating a fatal boating accident on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale that left one dead and two others injured, Miami Herald news partner CBS4 reported.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, near the 3200 block of Northeast 38th Street.
Two boats — carrying a total of 10 passengers — were traveling together when one of the boats hit a concrete dock. One person was thrown from the boat and died; two others were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition, CBS4 reported.
Neighbors told the Sun Sentinel that the boat passengers may have been in their late teens or early 20s. Names of boat passengers have not been released by authorities.

Fort Lauderdale Police and FWC investigators were on the scene, near NE 38th Street, to investigate the chain of events that led to the crash.
“Fort Lauderdale police has loaned us their crime scene unit to photograph the scene. We’ve got the dock, multiple boats, multiple people involved to really piece together what happened,” said FWC Officer Liz Barraco told CBS4. “So it’s going to be a long process, but we’re going to work really hard to find out what happened here tonight.”
