Woman run over multiple times on I-95

CBS4 Miami

A driver came upon a gruesome discovery early Friday morning while traveling south on Interstate 95, just south of Atlantic Boulevard.

As he was driving around 1:30 a.m. he said he accidentally ran over a body lying in the middle of the road, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.

“I stopped, opened the door and I asked, ‘Is that a person lying in the road?’ and he said ‘Yes, she’s dead.’ I got back in the car and proceeded to back around him and as I was doing so he jumped on his motorcycle and took off at a high rate of speed and left the scene,” the man told reporters on the scene, asking that he not be identified.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, that body was run over multiple times. Video shows two yellow tarps on the road.

“As I was waiting other traffic came along and ran her over again and again, and no one stopped,” the man also told reporters, according to WSVN 7. “Only three people stopped, and I can’t believe people can run over a body on the road and not stop.”

FHP closed all lanes of traffic on southbound 95 between Atlantic Boulevard and Cypress Creek Road in Pompano Beach but reopened the lanes during the rush hour.

FHP hasn’t released the woman’s identity. The investigation continues.
