High school wrestler injures neck during match, BSO says

A 17-year-old boy participating in a wrestling match at a Weston high school was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night after injuring his neck, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

BSO tweeted about the accident at Cypress Bay High School, 18600 Vista Park Blvd., about 8 p.m.

“#BSFR is currently on scene of a #traumaalert to a juvenile who suffered a neck injury while participating in a high school wrestling match ...” the department said.

The teen was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood after “complaining of numbness to extremities.”
