Student stabs classmate with scissors, causes lockdown, cops say

A student stabbed a classmate’s leg with a pair of scissors Friday at Nova High School in Davie, police said.

The altercation caused the school to go on a brief lockdown.

“There were minor injuries. There was a lockdown because it’s a school and it’s better to be safe than sorry,” Davie Police Sgt. Mark Leone told the Miami Herald.

One student was detained while the other was medically treated on scene. It’s unclear if any charges will be filed.

Nova High School is located at 3600 College Avenue in Davie, right across the street from Nova Southeastern University.
