A 28-year-old man forced a 17-year-old into the family restroom stall at the new downtown Hollywood Publix, pushed her against the diaper changing table and raped her, according to police.

The assault, which detectives say happened Saturday inside the store at 1740 Polk St., came about two weeks after the man allegedly assaulted the same girl — who was 16 at the time — on the hood of a car near the Intracoastal waterway, according to a police report.

In that case, two 15-year-olds — one of whom is the victim’s younger brother — were present during the assault, police said.

The man, Leandro Mlodziejewski, now faces two counts of sexual assault on a 16 or 17-year-old victim and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim under 16, according to police.

Mlodziejewski, who was on probation for a December battery charge, was being held Wednesday in Broward’s main jail with no bond.

According to Mlodziejewski’s police report, police were alerted to the alleged incident on Sunday.

The 17-year-old told police that a man she knew as “Leo” came to her home and picked her, her 15-year-old brother and another 15-year-old up to go to Publix and get food, an officer wrote in the report.

She told the officer that Mlodziejewski “put his hand inside her pants several times” while they walked around the store, according to the report. He then guided her to the restroom and forced himself on her, the officer said in the report.

“Victim one stated while the defendant was trying to video the encounter with his cell phone, she was able to push him off of her and exit,” the officer wrote. “Victim one advised the defendant threatened her numerous times to “act normal” or he will put the video online.”

The two 15-year-olds stayed in the car while Mlodziejewski and the victim were in Publix, according to the report.

Mlodziejewski then drove the group to North Beach Park in Hollywood where he tried to get the victim to go into the woods with him, the officer wrote in the report. She declined and he took the group home.

The teen then told police, according to the report, that the Publix incident “was not the first time he raped her.”

She told the officer that about two weeks earlier, Mlodziejewski had given her alcohol and she recalled having sex with him, police said.

The 15-year-olds told police the victim was extremely intoxicated in that incident.

“He did not attempt to interfere with what was going on because the defendant had threatened him and he was fearful advising the defendant has a violent temper,” an officer wrote referring to the victim’s brother.

On Tuesday, officers asked Mlodziejewski for his side of the story, but “he declined to speak to me without his attorney present,” the officer wrote.

Mlodziejewski also declined to give a DNA sample, police said.

A sexual assault evidence kit contains forensic evidence gathered from a victim's body during an intrusive, hours-long examination. Testing kits can find DNA evidence used to identify rapists, boost prosecutions or exonerate the falsely accused.
